SARATOGA SPRINGS — The Philadelphia Orchestra presents Carnival of the Animals on Thursday, Aug. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
“Carnival of the Animals” is a humourous suite of fourteen movements by the French Romantic composer Camille Saint-Saëns. Accompanied by accessible commentary, alongside projections of animal drawings submitted by local children, attendees are invited to follow each section of Saint-Saëns classic piece while they listen. Young, virtuosic “piano brothers” Lucas and Arthur Jussen will perform alongside The Philadelphia Orchestra following its debut performance the previous evening.
Starting at 1 p.m. as part of the CDPHP Family Night series, experience an afternoon of world-class entertainment for the whole family featuring free Stewart’s ice cream, balloon artists, photo booths and more. Visit some of the Capital District’s museums as they bring their road show to the Saratoga State Park. Join a popular drum circle and even learn from the dancers and musicians themselves at the Albany Medical Center’s Children’s Workshops on the lawn.
Ticket prices range from $18 to $113. For tickets and information, visit spac.org.
Saratoga Performing Arts Center is located at 108 Avenue of the Pines in Saratoga Springs.
