NORTHUMBERLAND – A motorcyclist from Gansevoort failed to stop at a stop sign Thursday afternoon and died after crashing into a tractor trailer.

According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, David P. Burke, 56, failed to stop his 1999 Harley Davidson on Route 50 at Route 32 and struck a tractor trailer driven by Robert Dixon, a 22-year-old from Gansevoort.

Dixon was not injured.

Burke was transported to Glens Falls Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Route 32 was closed for about three hours as the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit and Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated.

There were no tickets issued at the scene.
