GUILDERLAND—The New York State Police would like to make the public aware of upcoming training exercises being held this week at the State Police Firearms Range on Foundry Road in the Town of Guilderland.
The training will take place the afternoon and evening hours of Tuesday, May 22, and the morning hours of Wednesday, May 23. During training, those in the area will see an increased police presence and may hear simulated gun fire, explosions or yelling. All aspects of the training are simulated.
The fenced-in areas of the range will be closed to the public and media during the training.
Through traffic on Grant Hill Road will be prohibited, with the exception of residents of the road, for both exercise days.
According to NYSP, troopers routinely conduct these types of exercises to train for possible emergency response situations.
