GUILDERLAND — Guilderland High School senior Joe Giordano is among 32 students from across the United States selected for the 2017 Grammy Camp — Jazz Session.
Giordano will play first trombone in the Grammy National Jazz Band, which will perform with some of music’s biggest names during Grammy Awards Week in Los Angeles, as well as record an album. He joins students from 14 states for a 10-day camp in L.A.
“I’m very excited,” said Giordano in a press release. “I knew some people who participated in the program last year, and they had a great time. I have a few friends this year who got in, and I’m really excited to see them again. I’m also looking forward to working with Justin DiCioccio (of the Manhattan School of Music), the director of the band.”
Giordano has been playing the trombone since fourth grade. He plans to study jazz in college. He is the son of Mark and Mary Giordano of Albany.
