Averill Park won two tiebreakers to defeat Guilderland 3-1 Tuesday, Sept. 15, in a Suburban Council girls volleyball match.
After dropping the first game 25-15, Averill Park took the next three games by scores of 29-27, 25-14 and 26-24.
Averill Park’s defense led the way. Sam Laranjo had 31 digs, and Shannon Meyer added 27 digs. Maddie Dunigan’s nine kills paced Averill Park’s offense.
Rebecca Straubel recorded 10 digs, nine kills and five service aces for Guilderland. Kate Johnson had six kills and 10 digs, while Teddi Palmer contributed 19 digs and Julia Nagle added 15 assists.
