COLONIE – The closed Red Lion Inn on Wolf Road is on a road towards redevelopment, but it has become a focus for Colonie police.
On Tuesday, Jan 10 at approximately 7:40 p.m. officers responded to the property and found three men actively removing copper piping.
“It seems over the past few months, it has become a place for homeless to congregate,” Colonie Lt Dan Belles said. “We have been actively working with the property owners and the Town Building Department officials to secure the property.”
Officers located and arrested Christopher Burnett, 44, Kalum Brezeale, 21, and Earlston Lindsay, 38, all of Albany. According to police, it appeared that the three were living in the building as well. All three men were charged with burglary, a felony, and criminal possession of stolen property and possession of burglar’s tools, both misdemeanors. Brezeale was also charged with a felony count of criminal mischief.
“As of yesterday, we believe all individuals living in the building were located and removed, and the building was secure,” Belles added. “We have enlisted the help of homeless advocates to offer assistance to those in need.”
Burnett was arraigned by Judge Andrew Sommers, while Brezeale and Lindsay were arraigned by Judge David Green.
High, driving recklessly and crash
COLONIE – Colonie police responded to a property damage crash near the intersection of Virginia and Central Avenues on Thursday, Jan. 12 at approximately 12:02 a.m.
The officers found a crashed black Toyota and observed its driver, a 54-year-old Cropseyville man, had signs of impairment. The man had bloodshot eyes and poor coordination. He was given and failed field sobriety tests and tested positive for breath alcohol on a pre-screening device.
The officers found that he was in possession of a controlled substance and open containers of an alcoholic beverage in the vehicle.
He was taken into custody for DWAI-Drugs, a misdemeanor. The man was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and reckless driving, both misdemeanors, and failure to keep right, and drinking in a motor vehicle.
He was given an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to Colonie Town Court on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
DWI on Albany Shaker Road
LOUDONVILLE – A 30-year-old was arrested after Colonie police said he was involved in a property damage accident on Albany Shaker Road near the intersection of Everett with his grey Nissan on Thursday, Jan 12 at approximately 12:29 a.m..
Officers observed the man had watery and bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, poor motor coordination and had an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath.
The man was given and failed field sobriety tests, tested positive for breath alcohol on a pre-screening device and taken into custody.
At the police station he was charged with DWI and following too close. He was released on an appearance ticket for Wednesday, Jan 18.

ROTTERDAM – Rotterdam police arrested Rahze Morrison, 27, of Rotterdam, for a bench warrant from Colonie Town Court for not appearing for a September court date.
He was arraigned by Colonie Judge David Green.

COLONIE – A 43-year-old from Schenectady was brought over to Colonie police from the Albany County Jail on Monday, Jan. 9 to face charges stemming from missing an October court date and petit larceny charges.
Herman Bass was arraigned on the charge.

COLONIE — Ryan Baker, 35, of Albany, was brought from the Albany County Jail to face felony counts of burglary and grand larceny.
He was arraigned.

COLONIE — On Monday, Jan. 9 a Schenectady man turned himself in to Colonie police to face grand larceny charges related to a February incident at Napa Auto Parts on Wolf Road.
Christopher Brown, 31, was charged and given an appearance ticket for Wednesday, Jan. 25 in Colonie Town Court.

COLONIE — Colonie police responded to a call at Target on Central avenue and found a woman wanted in two towns.
On Sunday, Jan. 8, officers took Christina Cassidy, 19, who is homeless, into custody on a bench warrant out of Colonie Town Court.
She was arraigned and released to the custody of State Police in Clifton Park for an outstanding warrant.

GUILDERLAND — Colonie police arrested an Albany man for not showing up to court on Saturday, Jan. 7 after he was detained by Guilderland police.
Aaron Krauth, 36, was transported, processed and sent to the Albany County Jail as a pre-arraignment detainee.
Warrant for domestic incident
SCHENECTADY — A homeless man wanted on charges stemming from a domestic incident in October was arrested by Schenectady police on Saturday, Jan. 7 and transported to Colonie.
Kevin Rivera-Herrera, 24, was charged with felony criminal contempt and aggravated family offense and three counts of misdemeanor criminal contempt and violation harassment.
Rivera-Herrera was released with an appearance ticket per Judge Norman Massry and is scheduled back in court on Wednesday, Jan 25.

COLONIE — Colonie police stopped a white BMW for traffic violations near the intersection of Central Avenue and New Karner Road on Saturday, Jan. 7, but the passenger in the car had more problems.
A check of his identification showed that Henassy McConico, 25, of Troy had an outstanding felony arrest warrant from the Bethlehem police.
He was processed and transported to Bethlehem police.
Guilty plea in child porn case
COLONIE — Jonathan Waters, 38, of Albany, pleaded guilty to a count of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a felony, before the Judge Andra Ackerman in Albany County Court on Tuesday, Jan 10.
A Superior Court Information alleges that on or about March 13, 2021, at an address in the Town of Colonie, Waters possessed video of a 10-year-old child engaged in sexual acts, and uploaded it to a peer-to-peer file sharing service.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 9. Waters faces a determinate term of 3 years in State prison, followed by 10 years of post-release supervision, and will be required to register as a sex offender.
Waters is a registered sex offender who was convicted in October 2018 and sentenced to 16 months to 4 years in prison for unlawful surveillance.
He is now in the Albany County jail.
Three car
crash DWI
MENANDS — On Sunday, Jan. 8 at about 8:45 p.m. State Police responded to the area of route 787 exit 6 offramp in Menands, NY, for a three-car crash. The at fault driver was identified as a 38-year-old Troy man.
Following the investigation into the crash, the man was arrested for driving while intoxicated and other vehicle and traffic law violations.
The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Albany Medical Center hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The man was transported to SP Latham for processing, where he provided a breath sample that returned 0.16 percent BAC.
He was issued tickets returnable to the Menands Village Court on January 24 and released to a sober party.
Crash on Alt 7, aggravated DWI
LATHAM — On Saturday, Jan. 7, at about 11:20 p.m. State Police responded to Alternate Route 7 in Colonie, for reports of a two-car rear-end crash with injuries and entrapment.
After an investigation the at-fault vehicle’s driver was identified as a 40-year-old Troy man. The man denied having injuries and was arrested for aggravated DWI and other vehicle and traffic law violations.
The other vehicle’s driver was extricated and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The man was transported to SP Latham for processing, where he provided a breath sample that returned a 0.23 percent BAC. He was issued tickets returnable to the Colonie Town Court on Monday, Feb. 6, and released to a sober party.
