LATHAM — Shaker High School student Mira Ginsburg was recognized by the community with pomp and circumstance for her fundraising efforts on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
With signs, smiles, and applause, SHS Unified Sports and Club athletes celebrated with Ginsburg when she received a $1,000 scholarship from Special Olympics New York during a brief but energizing ceremony.
Ginsburg raised the most money of any Unified school female student, bringing in $2,468, said Leigh Howard, Director of Unified Sports – Special Olympics NY. The money will fund as many as 15 Special Olympic athletes.
In recognition of this effort, she earned a $1,000 scholarship.
