LOUDONVILLE – Girl Scouts from local troops gathered on Saturday, Dec 3 at Newton Plaza to decorate various trees for the holidays.
Since 2016, this event has become an annual tradition and is one of the many ways the Girl Scouts can give back to their community.
Each troop worked on selecting a theme for their tree. Once decided, they gathered supplies, often ones that are recycled, natural or donated and spent hours creating ornaments and decorations to make their theme come to life.
The girls worked together as a team to incorporate each other’s ideas and often learn new skills along the way. The trees are labeled with the troop number and after they are decorated, they are ready to be enjoyed by everyone. The troops encourage the community to stop by and visit the plaza to view the trees through December. Some of the merchants will have holiday hours throughout the season.
The plaza also hosted an open house the same day that was sponsored by the Newton Plaza Merchant Association and Schuyler Companies, developer and owner of The Shoppes At Newton Plaza.
