COLONIE — Police are asking the public for help in identifying a woman killed in a car accident on Central Avenue on Monday, Aug. 22.
The woman was walking eastbound in the center turn lane near Fairfield Avenue at around 8:35 p.m. when she was hit by a vehicle heading westbound, according to Lt. Robert Donnelly.
The driver, a 67-year-old from Colonie, immediately stopped and is cooperating, Donnelly said. He was not impaired and was not ticketed.
Colonie EMS provided medical care, but she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Central Avenue was reduced to one lane for several hours while police investigated.
The woman did not have identification. She is described as being between 30 and 40 years old, about 5-foot, 6 inches tall and weighing about 125 pounds. She has brown hair with dyed red highlights on top.
She has a small tattoo on her right thigh that includes the name “Michael” with a wreath below it. She also has a tattoo of “Love” on her right ankle next to what appears to be a rose and a tattoo of “Jade Diamond” on her right wrist with a cross.
She was wearing blue jeans, a light-colored tank top and gray sneakers with white soles.
Anyone who can help with identification, or who has any other information about the crash, are asked to call 518-783-2744.
