COLONIE — The town pool will open earlier this year and be open for more hours per day.
This year, for the first time, the pool, located in the Mohawk River Park off Route 9, will open on May 28 for the Memorial Day Weekend. It will be open May 29 and 30 as well as June 4, 5, 11 and 12 and then from June 17 to Sept. 5.
Rather than opening at noon as it has in years past, this year the poll will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting of course.
The splash pad, opened in 2018, is adjacent to the poll and will follow the same schedule.
“Pool usage has a very short window in the Northeast and I want to maximize the days that the pool will be open for all to enjoy,” said Supervisor Peter Crummey. “Also, I am opening the pool at 11 a.m. instead of noon so families may enjoy a full day at the complex.”
There is a $5 daily fee for a resident of the town to use the Olympic size pool and a $9.50 fee for out of town guests. Residents’ children between 5 and 12 pay $4.50 a day and guests in that age range pay $8. Children under 4 swim for free and senior citizens, those over 62, swim for $1 a day.
Family passes are available for residents and are $140 for the season, $90 for the month of July and $75 for August. An individual pass is $90 for the season.
