COLONIE — Police have identified the 61-year-old woman who was hit and killed by a vehicle on Route 2 as Janet Nittoli, of New York City.
According to Lt. Robert Donnelly, Nittoli had been living in the Capital District for a least the past few months and was possibly using homeless shelters at times.

The investigation has shown she frequented the CDTA bus line, and had been spending a significant amount of time in the area of Troy Schenectady Road.
On Tuesday, Dec. 11, at around 7:15 p.m., Nattoli was crossing Route 2, or Troy Schenectady Road, in the area of Swatling Road, when she was hit by a 1998 Toyota travelling westbound.
The driver, a 57-year-old from Troy, immediately stopped and called police.
Impaired driving is not a factor.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who knows anything about Nattoli, is asked to call the Colonie Police at 518 783-2744.
