COLONIE — A police cruiser struck a 61-year-old pedestrian as he was crossing Route 9 near Fiddler’s Lane on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at around 6 p.m.
According to Lt. Robert Donnelly, the pedestrian had just got off a CDTA bus when he was hit.
He was knocked to the ground and suffered a head laceration and other injuries. The officer was not injured.
The officer immediately stopped, Donnelly said, called in the accident and provided medical assistance until EMS arrived.
The victim, who is not named, was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Route 9 was closed and traffic was diverted for about more than an hour.
It’s not clear if the officer was responding to a call, or if his lights and siren were activated.
