COLONIE — The Planning Board approved a 24-lot conservation subdivision, which will be called Donna Drive Extension, on Tuesday, July 24.
The 12-acre development by Cillis Builders would extend both ends of Donna Drive so they connect in a loop.
Currently, Donna Drive, which runs parallel to Hackett Avenue in front of Colonie Central High School, is a dead end accessed off Sand Creek Road by Nina Drive. There is a cul-de-sac off Donna Drive called Rafferty Court.
The extension to Donna Drive, the part that would complete the loop, would run parallel to Alfred Drive East, which runs between Sand Creek Road and Herman Street. According to the a site plan of the project, there will be a gated access road onto the extension of Donna Drive, presumably for emergency vehicles.
According to the narrative, the land is wooded and as the project was working its way through the process, the Planning Board required the large trees be saved and one lot be set aside for storm water management.
It is estimated the project will add 24 new trips during the peak morning and afternoon traffic times.
