COLONIE — Grandma’s Pies and Restaurant is closing its doors as of July 15.
The thank you note announcing the closing appeared on the longtime restaurants Facebook Page on Saturday, July 7 and quickly made the social media rounds. As of Monday, July 9, it had 775 reactions, was shared nearly 3,000 times and generated nearly 500 comments.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce Grandma’s & Restaurant will be closing its doors on Sunday, July 15,” reads the note signed by Dave and Ron. “We wish to thank you all for being a part of our family, as well as allowing us to be a part of your families for these last 42 years.”
In April, the owners said they were selling the iconic restaurant on Central Avenue but said the restaurant and pie shop would remain open.
According to reports, Grandma’s was opened by Joe Danaher and purchased by Dave Houle and Ron Raylinsky in 2008.
We hope our friends and neighbors remember what made Grandma’s Pies and Restaurant so special were the memories that formed over the meals within our walls,” reads the Facebook note. “Although Grandma’s will no longer be here to share in your family’s reunions, engagements, births, celebrations and times of mourning, we will cherish the memories and hope you will as well.”
The restaurant will be open on Friday and Saturday, July 13 and 14 until 9 p.m. and on Sunday July 15 until 4 p.m.
