COLONIE LIBRARY: Chinese Film/Discussion Series returns

Story Circle of the Capital District Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 6 p.m.

A group of people who love stories, meets on odd numbered months (January, March, May, etc…) at the Colonie Town Library to share stories which are works in progress. The stories should be no longer than 10 minutes, unless previous arrangements are made. The teller controls how much, if any, feedback happens. No reading of stories, just telling, please. Listeners and new storytellers welcome!
Ages: adults and teens.

Tuesday Night Live Poets’ Corner Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

Local poets and writers of all ages are invited to share original written material in the form of poetry and short story at this open reading forum.

The public is encouraged to stop in and listen.

Downsizing Your Home Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m.

Downsizing your home? It’s a big decision and we are here to help you with tips and suggestions to prepare for it. Discussion will include options on where to live in the Capital District with strategies to make the process as easy as possible. This program is geared towards current homeowners who are 55 and older. All family members are welcome to attend. Presented by Brian Walters, an associate broker in the real estate business for more than 23 years specializing in residential re-sale and working with seniors. Registration is required. Film Series with Lenny Zapala Thursday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m.

Film expert and Menands Public Library Director Lenny Zapala continues with his yearlong “Film Noir” series – which includes many of the defining films of the genre. And don’t forget Lenny’s introduction and comments after the films, too! This month: The Big Sleep (1946) with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall; directed by Howard Hawks.
