ALBANY — Judge Thomas Breslin sentenced Harold Jackson, 50, of Colonie, on Thursday, Aug. 18, to 50 years to life in state prison for a violent rape.
Jackson was found guilty by a jury on July 28 on one count of first degree rape and one count of first degree criminal sex act for an incident on May 13, 2015, when he raped a woman he knew.
Jackson was previously designated a level 3 sex offender for a prior violent sexual conviction in the 1980s. At today’s sentencing, he was designated a persistent violent felony offender based upon two prior violent felony convictions, which allowed the court to sentence him to 25 years to life on each count.
