ALBANY — Two men pled guilty to their charges in Albany County Court Monday, July 25.
George Lopez II, 36, of Albany, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, while Dertwan Dantzler, 22 of Troy, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated vehicular assault and one count of second degree assault.

Lopez was stopped by Menands Police on March 19 for speeding on Broadway in Menands. Police detected the odor of marijuana and alcohol, Lopez displayed physical signs of intoxication and he admitted to using marijuana and alcohol prior to driving. Lopez was driving with his 14-year-old relative in the car.
Lopez faces up to 60 days in Albany County Jail, followed by five years of probation, as well as a $1,000 fine, five years of an ignition interlock device and having his license revoked for a minimum of one year.

State Police attempted to stop Dantzler for speeding on May 4 on Route 9 in Loudonville. Dantzler fled the scene, sideswiping another motorist in the process. He continued north on Route 9 until he was involved in a second collision — this time crashing into three vehicles near the entrance to Newton Plaza. Two people in the cars Dantzler crashed into at Newton Plaza sustained minor injuries, while Dantzler and two passengers in his vehicle required hospitalization.
Dantzler faces 3-9 uears in state prison when he is sentenced on Sept. 19.
