UPDATE Colonie police obtained a sketch of a possible witness or suspect in the death of Jacquelyn Porreca, the Recycled Salon employee who was stabbed Friday, Aug. 21.
A witness observed a male walking south on Russell Road in the time frame before the incident, and then north on Russell Road shortly before hearing emergency vehicle sirens. Police said in the initial sighting, the man was walking toward the salon, then away in the second sighting.
The man is described as a white male in his 20s or 30s with a thin build, blond hair and blue eyes. He was wearing jeans and a white long-sleeved t-shirt with three or four buttons down the middle.
Police said the man may be a possible witness or suspect in the stabbing, or may be unrelated. Anyone with information regarding the man or any other information about the incident should call Colonie police at 783-2744.
The sketch was obtained with assistance from a certified forensic artist with the Duchess County District Attorney’s Office.
The victim of the stabbing at Recycled Salon, Jacquelyn M. Porreca, 32, of Colonie, died from her wounds around noon Sunday, Aug. 23, at Albany Medical Center.
There is no information as to a possible suspect in the incident, which occurred Friday, Aug. 21, around 3:40 p.m. at the 52 Sand Creek Road salon. Police believe the stabbing stemmed from a robbery. An autopsy will be performed Monday, Aug. 24.
Colonie police received a call for an injured female in front of Recycled Salon. Officers found the victim, Porreca, being attended to by neighbors and passing motorists who had stopped to help. Porreca sustained two knife wounds near her neck, police said. Colonie EMS took her to Albany Medical Center. Police said she underwent surgery and was put into a medically induced coma.
According to police, Porreca was working alone at the salon as a hairdresser. The investigation has indicated she was stabbed during an alleged robbery at the salon. A weapon has not been recovered. As of Sunday, Aug. 23, the investigation is still ongoing.
Colonie police is asking that anyone who was a customer of Recycled Salon Friday, Aug. 21, or in the area of Sand Creek and Russell roads who may have more information, or may have observed a suspicious person or vehicle, call the police at 783-2744.
