SELKIRK — A parked vehicle on a Selkirk residence driveway caught on fire at around 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, according to Bethlehem police.
The residence is at 22 Anna Court and the cause of the fire remains unknown although police reported that it “is not suspicious.” A resident, whose identity remains unknown, was driving a white pick-up truck when they saw that the vehicle was heavily on fire and stopped. They proceeded to hook a chain to the burning vehicle and pulled it away from the house. While this prevented the fire from spreading, the front of the house and garage sustained moderate heat and smoke damage. The house was still deemed habitable due to the resident’s actions.
According to police, the resident’s identity remains unknown but the homeowner would like to know who they are to thank them.
The Selkirk, Elsmere and Delmar fire departments, Delmar-Bethlehem EMS and Bethlehem police also responded to the scene. The vehicle was determined to be a total loss and there were no injuries.
