BETHLEHEM—The state Department of Transportation has informed the Town of Bethlehem that three paving projects on state roads located within the town are set to begin this month.
Work to mill and repave a section of Delaware Avenue in front of Town Hall will begin this Thursday, June 14. Milling and prep work will take place on Thursday and Friday, and paving will take place on Saturday. The state anticipates bringing workers in at 2 a.m. on Saturday morning to prepare for the paving contractor, so residents should be aware of potential early disturbances.
Work to mill and repave Feura Bush Road, between Elm Avenue extension and River Road, is expected to begin on Saturday, July 23. The contractor anticipates 20 days of work. Temporary lane closures are limited to the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., so the contractor plans to complete the milling and paving work at night. Variable message signs will be placed two weeks prior to the start of night work to give motorists advance notice.
The state will also pave a section of State Route 144 (River Road) between Maple Avenue in Selkirk and Stonehouse Hill Road in Coeymans, which leads to the Ravena Coeymans Yacht Club. The work is expected to take place during daytime hours from Monday, June 18, to Thursday, July 5, with the exception of the July 4 holiday. Variable message signs have been activated to warn regular travelers about the upcoming roadwork and possible travel delays.
While paving, the state will use alternating one-way traffic controlled by flag persons at either end to keep traffic moving. No night work is anticipated, but all paving plans are weather-permitting and could be affected by significant changes in the weather or other unanticipated conditions.
