COLONIE — Candidates running for contested positions in this year’s town elections have been invited to speak in a political forum in their respective communities of Bethlehem and Colonie.
Spotlight News – in conjunction with The League of Women Voters, The Bethlehem Chamber, The Colonie Chamber, and Capital Area Council of Churches, is co-sponsoring the events.
Each forum will enable voters to listen to each candidate in a fair and moderated environment. The first will be on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Bethlehem Town Hall on Delaware Avenue in Delmar and the second on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel on 205 Wolf Road in Colonie.
Each forum is in a structured time format allowing candidates the opportunity for opening statements, followed by questions from the audience. The two-hour event includes a one-hour session for Town Board candidates, followed by a second hour dedicated to town supervisor candidates.
Town highway superintendent candidates in Bethlehem will each give a campaign statement prior to the Town Board candidates.
Campaign signs, T-shirts or any other form of demonstration for party affiliation or candidates will be forbidden.
Candidates will be allowed to distribute campaign literature and meet with the public after closing statements have concluded.
Members of the press are welcomed to attend. Photography or any other form of recording will remain exclusive to credited members of the press only. For information, please contact John McIntyre – Spotlight News, (518) 439-4949 or [email protected].
