On Saturday, July 22, at about 9:35 in the evening, the Bethlehem Police Department received a report that a boat had crashed on the Hudson River in Glenmont, and the two occupants had safely made it to shore, uninjured. Upon arrival of members of the Bethlehem Police Department, officers located a 1980 Formula One Runabout submerged in the Hudson, close to shore, not far from a tugboat dock near Innovative Surface Solutions on River Road in Glenmont.
After conducting an investigation into the incident, the Bethlehem Police Department arrested Martin Seitz, 59, of Rensselaer, for Boating While Intoxicated, pursuant to the New York State Navigation Law. Seitz was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Bethlehem Town Court on Tuesday, August 1. The boat was removed from the river by Robert’s Towing.
The Selkirk Fire Department responded with their new marine unit and assisted Bethlehem Police in the incident. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation spill response team also responded to the scene due to a minor fuel leak from the vessel.
