BETHLEHEM— The town’s director of field operations in the Department of Public Works was arrested last month with two others for alleged criminal possession of cocaine.
Howard Hyer, 52, was arrested on Sunday, Nov. 20 with his wife, Mary Hyer, 52, and a Frank Berone, 34. Howard and Mary Hyer are both from Selkirk, Berone from Latham. Police said that the three were arrested around 2 a.m. in Saratoga.
The case is currently open and is working through the courts, according to Lt. Bob Jillson of the Saratoga Police Department. Jillson confirmed that Hyer works for DPW in the Town of Bethlehem. Mary Tremblay-Glassman, director of human resources for the town, confirmed that Hyer is the director of field operations for DPW in town, and that he is currently employed by the town but has been placed on paid administrative leave.
Paul Penman, deputy commissioner of DPW for Bethlehem, and Hyer could not be reached for comment.
