The Bethlehem Central High School Key Club will host an Oxfam Hunger Awareness Banquet on Friday, Dec. 2, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
An Oxfam Hunger Banquet is an interactive event that aims to spread awareness regarding hunger and poverty in the world. At the banquet, all guests will be randomly split into a high-, middle-, or low-income tier based on current world poverty statistics. The 20 percent in the high-income tier will be served a pasta dinner, the 30 percent in the middle-income tier will eat a simple meal of rice and beans and the 50 percent in the low-income tier will help themselves to rice and water, bringing food inequities to life.
During the meal, guest speakers will educate attendees on the realities of hunger in our area and around the world.
Donations will be accepted. All proceeds from the donations will go to support the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.
