ALBANY — Route 85 eastbound between Western Avenue and Interstate 90 will be closed Saturday, June 18, from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. as work continues on the highway linking Albany with Slingerlands.
During this closure, eastbound traffic will detour through the Harriman State Office Campus. Westbound traffic will not be affected.
After Saturday’s work is completed, eastbound traffic will be diverted to the recently-paved westbound side of Route 85. This traffic pattern is expected to be in place until Labor Day.
The on-ramps from Lincoln Avenue and Western Avenue will remain closed during this work. Drivers who normally use these on-ramps to Route 85 should continue to follow the posted detours.
The new traffic pattern is necessary for New York State Department of Transportation crews to reconstruct the eastbound side of Route 85, which carries up to 44,000 vehicles per day.
