COLONIE — Rev. Adam Egan, 35, of Bethlehem, pleaded guilty in Colonie Town Court Monday, May 23, from an incident involving him taking a video of a woman as she undressed at a local thrift store.
Egan was arrested by Colonie Police at approximately 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, on two felony charges of unlawful surveillance and tampering with evidence after he allegedly recorded the victim changing her clothes at the Salvation Army thrift store at 350 Troy-Schenectady Road in Latham.
At the time of the arrest, Egan served as rector of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Delmar. He was originally facing two felony charges, including one for tampering of evidence. Egan has since pled down to one count of attempted unlawful surveillance in the second degree. The misdemeanor charge carries three years probation and would require he follow sex offender conditions during his probation. Egan is scheduled to be sentenced Monday, July 25, in Colonie Town Court.
Colonie Police had reported Egan held his cell phone over the dressing room divider, taking a video of a woman as she changed from her clothes. The victim caught him and snapped photos of him with her own cell phone before calling police. Police located Egan on Aragon Avenue about 10 minutes later, where he was arrested and his electronic devices confiscated.
