TROY – The eighth annual Paws in the Park, a major fundraising event for the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, was held on Saturday, Oct. 14, for the first time at the Joe Bruno Stadium on the Hudson Valley Community College campus.
Paws in the Park features, of course, a walk where participants gather pledges to donate to the shelter. It also had vendor booths, food, a pet-owner look-alike contest and a pet costume contest.
The Albany Sheriff’s K9 unit put on a demonstration and there were other activities like a place for dogs – with their owner’s help – to make paw print art.
A portion of the proceeds will help pay for the new facility in Menands, general operational costs and to help care or animals taken from shelters in hurricane ravages areas of Texas and Florida to open up spots for other animals while their owners get back on their feet.
