RECENTLY ANNOUNCED: Old Songs in the fall

VOORHEESVILLE — Old Songs, Inc. just announced its lineup of concerts for fall and beyond, starting with Charm City Junction on Friday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $25, $12 for children 13 to 18 and $5 for children under 13. To purchase tickets, call 518-765-2815 or email [email protected]

From dance-inducing Old Time rhythms and foot-stomping Irish melodies to hard-driving bluegrass, Baltimore-based Charm City Junction—Patrick McAvinue on fiddle, Brad Kolodner on clawhammer banjo, Sean McComiskey on button accordion, and Alex Lacquement on upright bass—creates a fresh soundscape that keeps listeners on the edge of their seats wondering where they’ll go next.

Jez Lowe

Friday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m.

Jez Lowe has built an enviable reputation as a songwriter and performer in the world of acoustic music, and as a recognized musical ambassador for his native North East England, with more than a dozen albums and countless live performances around the world over the last twenty years. The Jeremiahs

Thursday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m.

The Jeremiahs combine traditional and contemporary sounds to create their own brand of Urban Folk music. Joe Gibney (vocals, whistle) offers a diverse repertoire of songs, from rousing sea shanties to emotional traditional songs of hardship, love, and loss; James Ryan (guitar, bouzouki) draws on a wide a range of influences from different genres and traditions, evident is his unique percussive backing style; Jean Christophe Morel (fiddle, mandola) brings an exotic style of fiddling to the band’s sound; and Julien Bruneteau, a flute player of great sensitivity with an amazing ability to improvise. Jane Rothfield, Allan Carr & Friends

Saturday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m.

Award winning fiddler and clawhammer player, Janie Rothfield and her husband, Scottish singer and guitarist Allan Carr, have been playing their unique blend Appalachian style and Scottish music for over 30 years. Together they play roots music that is directly from the source while expanding on the tradition with newly composed songs and tunes. Shannon Heaton & Keith Murphy

Friday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m.

Boston-based Irish flute player and singer Shannon Heaton has been heralded as one of North America’s finest traditional musicians. A warm and entertaining performer, Heaton excels at making Irish music fresh and accessible to a wide variety of audiences. With her appealing mix of instrumentals and heartfelt ballads, she offers world class music with Irish roots and universal appeal.

For this concert Heaton teams up with Newfoundland native Keith Murphy, whose guitar playing and singing wells from traditions in Ireland, Eastern Canada, Quebec and his adopted home of Vermont. His rhythmic guitar playing brings new shape to old music. And his intimate style of traditional singing in English and French infuses ballads with a powerful immediacy. Andrew VanNorstrand with Anna Patton & Dana Billings

Friday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m.

As a musician, singer and songwriter, Andrew’s debut solo album That We Could Find A Way To Be focuses on the complicated intersections of love, faith, loss and uncertainty, queerness and the search and struggle for understanding.
