ALBANY — Alive at Five is better outside, when it’s not raining, at Jennings Landing — the performers know it, the fans knows it and the organizers know it.
But, that didn’t stop Travie McCoy and special guest Stellar Young from putting on a solid show, or the fans from enjoying it at the rain location underneath the 787 overpass.
One exuberant female fan was so excited to see McCoy, the upstate-born and former front man for Gym Class Heroes, she tossed her bra onstage.
McCoy is best known for the single “Billionaire,” which hit No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, from the album “Lazarus,” with Bruno Mars. At Alive at Five on Thursday, June 13 he mixed commentary about love, politics and general societal conditions with he and his four-man band’s unique mix of rap and rock.
Stellar Young is an Albany-based indie rock band who describes themselves as “upbeat post-punk,” and it’s a fitting portrayal. The four-man band just released a new album, “And Turned to Ash,” in May.
Albany’s weekly concert series continues on Thursday, June 20 with DJ TGIF and Giant Gorilla Dog Thing. The show starts at 5 p.m.
