TROY —Thirty six teams from New York state, New Jersey, Brazil and Canada brought their robots to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for a three-day competition.

Among the local teams competing in the First Robotics Competition are Shaker, Colonie, Bethlehem and Voorheesville.

The regional event at RPI is one of 174 competitions happening all over the world. Winners will be invited to play at a championship event later this year.

The photos below are of the practice round on Thursday, March 7. The competition continues Friday and Saturday.

Check back for results and for a story on the teams.
