SPOTTED: Lee Brice at Saint Gregory’s School

LOUDONVILLE — Country music star Lee Brice entertained more than 200 guests during a fundraiser held at Saint Gregory’s School on Thursday, Feb. 7.

Folds for Honor, a foundation dedicated to raising scholarship money for children of fallen U.S. soldiers, organized a fundraiser at Saint Gregory’s School. The three-hour event featured guest speakers, including retired Army Maj. Ed Pulido, retired Navy SEAL Darren McBurnett, and retired Army Capt. Wesley Bauguess.

Bauguess, whose husband Maj. Larry Bauguess was killed in service in 2007, spoke of how she and their daughters Ryann and Ellie benefited from Folds of Honor scholarships. The two were 4- and 6-years old when their father was killed. Wesley said the three of them learned “a new normal” life without her husband.

“Through our faith we know he’s in Heaven looking down on us,” said Wesley.

Pulido lost his left leg to an improvised explosive device in Iraq in 2004. Gen. David Petraeus awarded him a Bronze Star with Valor, a Purple Heart, a Meritorious Service Medal, a Joint Service Commendation Medal and an Army Achievement Medal.

Stories shared by each of the speakers helped raise more than $200,000. Thomas O’Connor, president of New York State Chapter of Folds of Honor, is an alumnus of Saint Gregory’s School.

“I am always amazed at the power of our alumni,” said Grace Clark, a parent of three current Saint Gregory’s School students. “Tommy’s commitment to such an important organization that invests in the education of the legacy of America’s bravest.  I am grateful that my children are being educated by the same faculty that taught Tommy that he can make a difference.”
