TROY — Rechorduroys will throw a release show for its full-length debut album at the River Street Pub, on Friday June 22, at 8 p.m.
Rechorduroys formed over two years ago, shortly after the dissolution of Benjamin Garrett’s previous band Party Boat and a relocation to the Collar City. Constantly writing new music, Garrett had no lack of material to use with a new group of musicians. The band has since become a common name around the Capital District’s music scene.
The band’s forthcoming self-titled album has been a long time in the works. Recorded and produced by Troy Pohl (best known for his work with Sean Rowe), every part and tone feels like it was put together with the utmost thought and attention, while keeping Garrett’s pop sensibilities and relatable lyrics in the forefront. From tracks full of lush layers of surf-tinged guitars and harmonies that feel hopeful, to some that are catchy, concise and full of energy, to a closing track that will have you realizing you’re totally lost in a wall of sound, it’s a record that has a lot to offer.
The album was officially released earlier this month on the newly launched local label Five Kill Records. Currently the album’s opening track “Two Stones” is available on Spotify and Bandcamp for streaming, with the single “Short One” soon to be released along with accompanying video. The band has pressed a limited amount of vinyl which will be available at the show.
Also performing Friday will be The Abyssmals and Sun Natives, two acts that have not only shared the stage with Rechorduroys in the past, but alongside the band, too.
River Street Pub is locate at 194 River St. in Troy.
