ALBANY — The ceiling keeps getting ever higher for Shaker teen Moriah Formica.
The young rocker who turned heads — and chairs — on NBC’s The Voice is going to open at the Times Union Center’s Grand Re-Opening celebration on Friday, January, 26, at 8 p.m.
Formica will not only share the bill with Grammy Award-winning artists James Taylor and John Legend, but acclaimed comedian Jim Belushi, as well.
“This star-studded event is a celebration of the grand re-opening of the Times Union Center and highlights the status of the arena as the premier venue in the Northeastern United States,” said Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy. “We are proud and pleased that the updates to the facility will allow us to offer to the community some of the best sports programming and entertainment in the nation.”
The nearly 30-year-old venue is in the midst of a multi-million dollar renovation, the first phase of which is to be completed next August. Already, fans attending the arena have already enjoyed the enclosed atrium that now shields them from the harsh elements of a Capital City winter.
Tickets are on sale now and range from $65 to $195. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Pediatric Emergency Department at Albany Medical Center.
To purchase, visit the Times Union Center box office, go online at Ticketmaster.com or timesunioncenter-albany.com or call Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000.
