LAKE GEORGE — The Third Annual Adirondack Independence Music Festival launches from Lake George Saturday, Sept. 2.
The two-day, multi-band event features headline performances by Pink Talking Fish and Twiddle, along with sets from Ryan Montbleau Band, Kung Fu, Hayley Jane & The Primates, West End Blend, Funky Dawgz Brass Band, Sophistafunk, Barika, Formula 5, Mister F, Strange Machines, Annie in The Water, Gratefully Yours (3 sets), Steal Your Peach (3 sets) and Capital Zen.
A variety of food and craft vendors plus an adult obstacle course on Saturday, Sept. 2 and Sunday, Sept. 3 from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., at the Charles R. Wood Festival Commons, 17 West Brook Road, in Lake George.

SCHAGHTICOKE — The Great Schaghticoke Fair opens its gates for a six-day run starting Thursday, Aug. 30.
A showcase of the best that Rensselaer County residents and agriculture have to offer. Building after building will be bursting with vegetables, fruits, animals, antiques, baked goods and homemade crafts. Plus rides and entertainment for the whole family at the Reithhoffer Midway. Thursday, Aug. 30, through Monday, Sept. 4; gate opening time varies; fair closes daily at 9 p.m.
