NIGHT
TROY — Almost Queen returns to the Collar City to open the annual Rockin’ on the River concert series with a performance, Wednesday, June 7 at Riverfront Park.
The popular Queen tribute band arguably drew the largest crowd when it was a headlining act in last year’s series. Frontman Joseph Russo looks and sounds the part of Queen’s charismatic lead singer, Freddie Mercury. Steve Leonard (as guitarist Brian May), John Cappadona (as drummer Roger Taylor) and Randy Gregg (as bassist John Deacon) all put on one of the best, authentic sounding Queen shows one can find.
Opening for Almost Queen will be the Troy Music Academy All-stars.
The series runs each Wednesday for ten consecutive weeks, concluding August 9 with Fleetwood Mac tribute band, Rumours.
Each concert will take place from 5 to 8:30 p.m. in Riverfront Park, sandwiched between historic downtown Troy and the Hudson River.
