ALBANY — YES Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman, have added additional dates to its anticipated North American tour.
The trio was inducted into rock’s hall of fame as members of YES back in April, along with Chris Squire, Bill Buford, Tony Kaye, Steve Howe and Alan White.
Until recenrlt, the line-up to be featured in Albany in October had toured under the name Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman. The curious timing of the name change draws attention to the confusion over who owns the name of the original band.
“It’s very simple,’ said Anderson about the recent decision to change the band’s name from ARW to YES Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman. “The fans want it, we want it and it’s our right to use the name. YES music is in our DNA!”
(Howe and White currently operate under the name Yes, with Geoff Downes, who first joined the bane in 1980, Billy Sherwood, who joined in 1994, and Jon Davison, who joined in 2012.)
“Yes Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman have as much right — if not more so — to call themsevles YES, since Jon Anderson, the co-founder of the group, has always had the rights to use the name and the trademark,” Anderon’s managment team told Ultimate Classic Rock.com
Rabin, Wakeman and Anderson, Yes’ original lead vocalist, gives Yes featuring AWR the boasting rights to bill itself as “the definitive line-up of the greatest progressive rock band ever.”
YES featuring ARW plays at The Palace Theatre in Albany, Thursday, Oct. 5. For tickets, tour and VIP information, go to YESfeaturingARW.com.
