ALBANY — The Egg announced three new Rhythm International concerts for 2017 Tuesday, Jan. 31.
Canadian Celtic-rock band Enter The Haggis enters The Egg for an 8 p.m. show Saturday, May 6. The band is touring in support of its latest album, “Broken Arms.” Tickets are $34.
Carl Palmer — drummer for such classic prog-rock bands as Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Asia and The Crazy World of Arthur Brown — brings his ELP Legacy Tour to The Egg Saturday, May 20, at 8 p.m. With the recent passing of Keith Emerson and Greg Lake, Palmer and his band will perform a show in their honor with classics such as “Pictures At An Exhibition,” “Lucky Man” and “Targus.” It should be noted that Palmer’s Asia bandmate, John Wetton, died Jan. 31. Tickets are $38.
Farther out, improvising guitar greats John McLaughlin and Jimmy Herring bring their Meeting of the Spirits Tour to The Egg Thursday, Nov. 2, for a 7 p.m. show. McLaughlin is a jazz-fusion virtuoso famous for his Mahavishnu Orchestra, while Herring has performed with such classic rock bands as The Allman Brothers, Widespread Panic and The Dead. They will each perform full sets with their respective bands — McLaughlin’s Fourth Dimension and Herring’s Invisible Whip — before finishing the night by playing together. Tickets range in price from $39 to $59.
