ALBANY — Opera superstar and soprano Deborah Voigt joins David Alan Miller and the Albany Symphony Orchestra for its second concert of the 2016-17 season, “Roscoe: An American Grand Opera” at the Palace Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
Based on the acclaimed novel by local author William Kennedy, “Roscoe” is a new, American opera —tragic, comic and poignant— featuring music composed by Evan Mack and libretto by Joshua McGuire. The work focuses on Roscoe Conway, who after years of serving as the motor of Albany’s political machine, longs to retire. However, just as he hopes to do so, he gets pulled right back into the thick of things. Baritone Jeffrey Williams of Albany Pro Musica, will perform the role of Roscoe Conway.
Tickets for the performance, which range from $19 to $60 each, are still available for purchase by phone via the box office at 518.694.3300 or online at ticketmaster.com
