Say goodbye to Old Man Winter. It’s time to break out of the dark and come to the light.
Might I suggest the best way to begin enjoying this trend is to blend your darks with splashes of pastels.
I am quite fond of mixing gray with pale pink. I stumbled upon this delightful combination when gel manicure began peeling and I didn’t want bother with a touch up. Instead, I painted some of the fingers (two thumbs and a pointer) with a pale pink polish — very chic color combination and it extended the life of the overall manicure.
If you choose to do this, you have the gray and pink trend nailed.
Pun intended.
But, you also will be stylish with the accent nails trend that continues this season.
If you want to replicate this yourself, I suggest Sally Hansen’s Commander in Chic color and Shell we Dance. Both are gels and are LED light cured polishes. In my particular case, I used Commander in Chic gel, and combined it with Crème de la Crème, a miracle gel which cures without artificial light.
You can stroll down your local drugstore aisles and look for similar combinations. Two combos that come to mind are deep purple with iced lilac, and navy with baby blue.
Another daring combination to try is red with nude polish.
Now, let’s assess that handbag you’re carrying. Is it a dark color? Lighten it up. Find a pastel scarf and wrap it around a handle or strap. If you have a cross body bag, feel free to tie it in the front or back of the bag to give some extra movement.
If you’re not into scarves, find them too fussy for around your bags, look for an oversized floral pin to adorn your bag with. I found a lovely five inch diameter pink flower at a popular brick and mortar store years back. It’s been a versatile purchase I’ve used for pinning scarves and for wearing it in my hair. You If you peruse Etsy, I am sure you will find whatever floral accessory your heart desires.
Don’t limit it to flowers either. If you love butterflies, there are crafters that make an array of butterfly-theme accessories and adornments.
Finally, when you’re ready to step out into the springtime think with your feet!
Lightening your look with pale colored shoes is an excellent way to wear pastels. This time of year, stores are carrying an array of pastel and white shoes. There is nothing more stunning than a gray pair of wide leg trousers with blush pumps.
Right now blush pumps and nude toned shoes are extremely easy to find. You can even extend the lives of a light blush/nude from past seasons, if done in a timeless style. Hence, I have been promoting a basic pump.
If you want to sport a mod style, wear black with white shoes. Navy would also work to let that white shoe just pop. Think of a black shift dress, or any basic little black dress, and add a white lattice shoe. You have simply chic style right there.
