A cloudy day didn’t stop bagpipes, a firing party and laying of wreaths Wednesday, May 22, at The Crossings of Colonie. The Town of Colonie held a ceremony honoring the men and women from the town, both living and dead, who have served in the armed forces. More than 50 community members gathered with the Colonie Town Board, Albany County Executive Dan McCoy and many other officials in front of the Town of Colonie Veterans Memorial. Fifty-five new names were added to bricks in the memorial and remarks were given in honor of those that have served the country. The Town of Colonie Veterans Memorial was first unveiled on Aug. 25, 2009, in front of over 1,000 people in attendance. For more information on the memorial, visit www.colonie.org/vetmemorial.
