Normally at this time of year, we anticipate the arrival of the New York Giants at the University at Albany for their training camp.
That will not be the case this year, as the Giants have moved their training camp back to their Meadowlands sports complex facility in New Jersey.
There is no question that the Giants drew a lot of fans to UAlbany in the 17 years they held training camp in our region. Thousands of people flocked to the school’s athletic fields every day to watch the NFL team practice and get autographs from the players and coaches. Many of those same fans then went to nearby shops and restaurants, which provided an economic boost.
What we want to know is, are you among the Giants fans (or NFL fans in general) who are mourning the loss of one of this region’s summer sports traditions? Or, are you among the people who aren’t bothered by the team’s decision? Click on one of the four choices in the box to the left of the screen and let us know what you think. The poll will remain open until 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
