ALBANY COUNTY The two hottest Capital District High School Hockey League teams met Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Schenectady County Recreational Facility in Glenville.
Nicholas Koszelak’s goal with 2:42 left in the second period proved to be the game winner as Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa defeated Bethlehem 3-1.
Alex Lind gave BH/BS a 1-0 lead with 6:16 left in the second period, but Connor Carroll tied the score at 1-1 for Bethlehem 26 seconds later. Koszelak then tallied to put BH/BS ahead for good.
Dominik Monterroso added a goal early in the third period, and goaltender Mark Stocker stopped 22 shots for BH/BS, which won its seventh consecutive game and ended Bethlehem’s winning streak at nine games.
Bethlehem goaltender Alex Breiner made 26 saves.
In other CDHSHL action, Christian Brothers Academy doubled up Niskayuna/Schenectady 4-2 at the Albany County Hockey Facility in Colonie.
Andrew Mesick scored two goals, and goaltender Justin Bryar made 24 saves for the Brothers. Hunter Pemrick contributed a goal and an assist.
Kevin Canty and Cliff Vitkin each had a goal and an assist, and James Blanchfield stopped 34 shots for Niskayuna/Schenectady.
Saranac Lake defeated Shaker/Colonie 3-1 at the Lake Placid Tournament. Zach Turnbull tallied for the Jets, and goaltenders Ali Caruso and Connor Harris combined to make 20 saves.
