ALBANY Shaker’s Ronel Forde and Bethlehem’s Tedi DeMaria each won a pair of events at the Suburban Council Indoor Track and Field Championships Sunday, Jan. 31, at the University at Albany.
Forde claimed the 55-meter dash title with a time of 6.76 seconds, and he won the triple jump with a distance of 46 feet, 11.5 inches. Guilderland’s Clarence Skipped was second in the triple jump with a distance of 44 feet, 4.5 inches, and teammate Zaviir Berry placed third with a distance of 43 feet, 7.25 inches.
Berry earned his own individual title for the Dutchmen in the high jump by clearing the bar at 6 feet, 4 inches. Bethlehem’s Malick Diamonde was second with a cleared height of 5 feet, 10 inches.
Other boys champions Sunday included Christian Brothers Academy’s Kevin LaFleche in the 1,000-meter race, the Bethlehem 1,600-meter relay team and Shaker’s Quincy Ninstant in the long jump.
DeMaria picked up her two titles in the girls pole vault and the triple jump. DeMaria cleared the bar at 11 feet, 6 inches for the pole vault championship, and she traveled a distance of 35 feet, 6 inches to win the triple jump.
