ALBANY COUNTY Queensbury scored three times in the final four minutes to defeat Shaker/Colonie 6-3 in a Capital District High School Hockey League game Friday, Jan. 29, at the Albany County Hockey Facility.
Shaker/Colonie’s Zach Turnbull scored with 9:23 left in the third period to tie the score at 3-3, but Jack Merkosky netted the game winner with 3:53 remaining in regulation to kickstart the Spartans’ final push.
Merkosky and Ryan Mosher each scored a pair of goals for Queensbury, and goaltender Teddy Nolan made 35 saves. Turnbull had two goals and an assist for Shaker/Colonie, with Tyler Wilson scoring the other Jets’ goal.
Elsewhere in the CDHSHL, Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period and cruised to a 5-1 victory over Guilderland/Mohonasen/Scotia at the Schenectady County Recreational Facility.
Geordan Buffoline tallied twice, and goaltender Josh Zarnofsky stopped 15 shots for BH/BS. Daniel Cooper made 35 saves for G/M/S.
