CAPITAL DISTRICT Christian Brothers Academy opened the game on a 24-5 run and cruised to a 71-51 Suburban Council boys basketball victory over Averill Park Tuesday, Dec. 15.
Sloan Seymour scored 28 points, and Mike Wynn contributed 18 points for the Brothers. Isaiah Moak and Noah Yearsley each netted 15 points for the Warriors.
Similarly, Shenendehowa used a strong first quarter to propel itself to a 90-46 win against Bethlehem in Delmar. The Plainsmen led 28-7 after the first quarter and 52-18 at halftime.
Jake Dzikas had 23 points, and Kevin Huerter chipped in with 22 points for Shen. Michael Ortale’s 19 points paced Bethlehem.
In other Suburban Council action Tuesday, Guilderland pulled away from Shaker for a 78-59 win, while Niskayuna defeated Colonie 77-66.
Andrew Sischo poured in 19 points, and George Marinopoulos added 14 points for Guilderland, which outscored Shaker 39-26 in the second half. Shaker’s Brian Hayes led all scorers with 27 points.
Tommy Kelly scored 27 points, and Andrew Evans contributed 23 points for Niskayuna in its victory over Colonie. Isaiah Moll paced the Garnet Raiders with 28 points.
In the Colonial Council, Voorheesville knocked off Watervliet 70-52. Sean Nolan (20 points), Scott Glasheen (19 points) and Alex Giordano (13 points) all reached double figures for Voorheesville, which built a 42-21 halftime lead.
