The Guilderland boys basketball team clinched the Suburban Council South Division title with a 68-52 victory over Averill Park Friday, Feb. 6.
The visiting Warriors led 18-11 after the first quarter, but the Dutchmen (13-1 league, 14-2 overall) roared back by outscoring Averill Park 57-34 over the next three periods.
Andrew Platek scored 18 points to lead a balanced Guilderland attack. Michael Wine contributed 12 points, while Markus Abebe and Ralph Simeone each added 10 points.
Myles Joyce had 17 points, and Ryan Bielawa chipped in with 15 points for Averill Park (10-5, 12-5).
In other Suburban Council South Division action Feb. 6, Kevin Weber’s 26-point night helped Bethlehem defeat Columbia 87-56 in East Greenbush.
Zane Thompson netted 19 points for the Eagles (12-3, 14-3), who bookended the game by outscoring the Blue Devils 23-11 in both the first and fourth quarters. Matthew Riker added 11 points.
Jahlil Nails and Jarret Fortin each had 14 points for Columbia (7-8, 8-9).
Bethlehem ended its Suburban Council season Tuesday, Feb. 10, at home against Colonie. The Eagles visit Troy Friday, Feb. 13, for a non-league game.
