Christian Brothers Academy started strong and fended off Guilderland 83-75 in a non-league boys basketball game Wednesday, Jan. 28.
The Brothers (10-5) built a 47-31 halftime lead on the Dutchmen (11-2). Guilderland closed the gap a bit in the second half, but it couldn’t catch CBA.
Matt Hamel had 30 points, and Sloan Seymour added 19 points for the Brothers, who have won four games in a row and 10 of their last 13 contests since beginning the season 0-3.
Andrew Platek scored 32 points to lead four Guilderland players in double figures. Ralph Simeone contributed 13 points, while Andrew Sischo and Michael Wine each added 11 points.
Guilderland’s Jan. 30 Suburban Council South Division game against Columbia was postponed. No make-up date has been announced. The Dutchmen returned to league action Tuesday, Feb. 3, against Colonie.
