Gaps in its lineup hurt the Bethlehem wrestling team in a 52-25 Suburban Council loss to Colonie Wednesday, Dec. 17.
The Eagles gave up 24 points in forfeits to the Garnet Raiders in what was an otherwise close match between the two South Division rivals.
Brett Boyd (106 pounds), Devin Wright (120) and Chris Tangora (220) all pinned their opponents for Bethlehem. Jack Canova (132) earned a 9-0 majority decision victory over Anthony Allen, and Rob Stagnitta (138) added a 5-2 victory over John Dewert.
Caleb Tollisen (145 pounds) and Brandon Brothers (195) were among three Colonie wrestlers to pin their opponents.
Boys basketball
The Bethlehem boys basketball team made its long-awaited home debut a good one, as it defeated Ballston Spa 67-44 in a Suburban Council game Tuesday, Dec. 16.
The Eagles (2-2) broke open a close game by outscoring the Scotties 25-10 in the third quarter. A 19-point fourth quarter sealed Bethlehem’s victory.
John Sica had 17 points, and Kevin Weber contributed 13 points for the Eagles.
Girls basketball
The Bethlehem girls basketball team thoroughly dominated Ballston Spa an a 73-29 victory Tuesday, Dec. 16.
The Lady Eagles (3-1) raced out to a 28-6 lead after the first quarter and ended the game on a 19-0 run.
Gabby Giacone scored 26 points, and Jenna Gicone chipped in with 18 points for Bethlehem. Olivia Allrich’s 12 points paced Ballston Spa.
Bowling
The Bethlehem boys and girls bowling teams enjoyed easy Suburban Council victories over Ballston Spa Tuesday, Dec. 16.
The boys team defeated Ballston Spa 25-7 behind Erik DeVoe’s 243 high game and three-game series score of 677. Bryce Haller had a 625 series, and Noah Pappas added a 618 series. Kyle Hudson led Ballston Spa with a 244 high game and a 633 series.
The Bethlehem girls team cruised past Ballston Spa 30-2.
Boys swimming
Defending Section 2 Division 1 champion Shenendehowa defeated Bethlehem 106-78 in a dual meet Tuesday, Dec. 16.
Alex Taber won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke for Bethlehem.
