Christian Brothers Academy pulled away from the pack to win the boys team title at Sunday’s Big 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships at the University at Albany’s SEFCU Arena.
Justin Van Epps won two races to help the Brothers finish first with 123 points. Amsterdam was a distant second with 96 points.
Van Epps led impressive CBA performances in the 1,000- and 1,600-meter races. He won the 1,000 with a time of 2:43.86, while teammates Kevin LeFleche (second, 2:44.20) and Liam O’Brien (third, 2:47.58) followed not far behind. Van Epps then took first place in the 1,600 with a time of 4:43.89, while O’Brien placed second with a time of 4:44.24.
Elliot Croskey claimed the 55-meter dash title with a time of 6.68 seconds and ran the anchor leg on CBA’s first-place 800-meter relay team. The quartet of Croskey, Austin Ellis, Dan Kehrer and Jaylen McIntyre finished with a time of 1:35.89.
CBA also won the 3,200-meter relay with a time of 9:00.61. Kausik Pilar, Mike Flowers, Mike Buyaskas and Nick O’Brien formed the Brothers’ distance relay team.
