Shaker/Colonie built a 4-0 lead and cruised to a 5-1 victory over Bethlehem in Friday’s Capital District High School Hockey League game at the Bethlehem Area YMCA.
Andrue Caruso and Brendon Closs each scored a pair of goals to lead the Jets (4-3-0 league, 8-6-0 overall). Both of Closs’ goals came in the second period, which helped Shaker/Colonie break open a close game.
Kevin Egan also tallied, and goaltender Zach Dignum stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced for the Jets, who have won five of their last six games.
Mike Lemieux broke up Dignum’s shutout bid with a goal early in the third period for Bethlehem (3-4-1, 4-7-1). Goaltender Carl Cusack had 17 saves.
